WNC’s draft Local Plan (February 2024 update)

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) are currently working on a new Local Plan for West Northamptonshire to guide development in the period up to 2041.

The draft Local Plan is set to go before WNC’s Planning Policy Committee on Thursday 14 March 2024. A copy of the draft Local Plan will be published as part of the meeting papers by 6th March. Meeting papers can be found here:- https://westnorthants.moderngov.co.uk/ieListMeetings.aspx?CommitteeId=392

It is understood that once the draft Local Plan is published, it will include a “consultation statement” setting out WNC’s plan to engage with residents and ask for feedback. Subject to WNC’s Planning Committee agreeing the detail, it is thought a consultation period will run in April 2024 for 8 weeks. More details will be made available in due course.

For clarity, previously WNC consulted on “spatial options”. The consultation concluded in December 2021 and the draft Local Plan will include the feedback from the spatial options consultation. More information will be known when the meeting papers are published.

Another element of the draft Local Plan proposes to define a new planning policy boundary for Northampton. It is proposed to include Boughton, Moulton, Grange Park, Wooton Fields and Great Houghton into the boundary for Northampton.

Below is a copy of WNC’s technical engagement with Boughton Parish Council. The Council will discuss this at the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 11th March, held at the Village Hall at 7pm. If you would like to attend the meeting, please do let the Parish Clerk know so she can set the room up accordingly.
